Critical Access Requirements

Please notify us if there are underground structures that we should avoid when parking our trucks and equipment near the building for our work.

We require access of 200' of hose length from our trucks to all areas that are to be insulated. On large projects the trucks may have to be parked in one location without having to be moved for several days at a time.  Hose access must work in combination with power requirements .Winter work may require snowplowing considerations for our truck and crew access and exit.

The GC/Owner will provide clear access to the work area and remove all equipment, materials and furnishings in and adjacent to the work area.  An eight-foot wide aisle in front of work areas to be foamed is the minimum space required to allow the use of masking, drop cloths, and staging.  The entire area below flat ceiling or sloped roof areas must be clear.  Areas to be spray foamed must be open and accessible to spray application.

Areas to be spray foamed must be open and accessible to spray application.  Bays obstructed on the applicator side by strapping, blocking, ductwork, or other access hindrances are not anticipated in our price and will result in a substantial increase in project costs due to the related reduction in productivity.

FOAM-TECH can provide their own staging for projects where the staging requirement is two sections high and under. The contractor shall be responsible for providing additional staging if it is necessary.

Projects where spray foam is applied from outside the roof. The contractor will be responsible for providing the staging for projects -

Exclusive use of work areas being foamed:  Foam applications produce odors and airborne vapors during the installation process, which may be irritating to those without proper protection.  Our work must be isolated from others working or occupying the project.  Other trades working in close proximity to our work must use supplied-air respirators or other OSHA-approved protection during the spray application. The building can be reoccupied after airing out the spaces enough to provide at least two total air changes. When F-T work areas are properly isolated and and adequate ventilation is used, it should not be necessary for the adjacent work areas to be evacuated.

It is important that the tub and/or shower units, that the units are NOT installed prior to our foaming so that we can insulate the walls with complete access.

(Frequently the General Conditions for projects of this size require the insulation materials to be delivered to the site in their original containers.  Due to our specialized processing capabilities, our materials are handled and delivered to the project site in containers other than the manufacturers original sealed containers. We receive bulk deliveries too large for our trucks to carry and process from day tanks in order to avoid the environmental impact of 55-gallon drum disposal.  The State of Vermont has awarded us a waste reduction program grant to put this system into place.  We assume that this will be acceptable, even though the project specifications prohibit this. It does, however, support the intent of the part of the specification requiring the removal of any empty containers from the site on a daily basis.)
